The role of a Prep Cook is crucial in ensuring smooth kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting chefs with culinary tasks. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and sanitizing workstations, measuring and preparing ingredients, monitoring stock levels, and following recipes accurately. You will play an essential role in food safety by supervising food and cooling room temperatures and inspecting supplies upon delivery to accept or reject them. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a prep cook, great, but not needed
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs

Job Duties

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations
  • Following prep lists created by chefs
  • Measuring ingredients and seasonings and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
  • Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures
  • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
  • Following recipes correctly
