The Prep Cook/Line Cook role at Nando's is critical to the success of the kitchen team and overall restaurant operations. Job Requirements

  • Ability to take direction and to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge
  • Knowledge and comprehension of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
  • Basic English language and professional communication skills
  • Able to independently lift to 15lbs for an extended period
  • Ability to stand, walk and climb stairs with food items and dishes throughout your shift
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Reaching, bending twisting, stooping
  • Pushing and pulling
  • Lifting overhead
  • Must be able to climb stairs in restaurants that have multiple levels

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is an asset
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Basic English communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
  • Capacity to work under pressure while maintaining quality
  • Physical ability to stand and move for lengthy periods
  • Commitment to quality service and food knowledge

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients as assigned by management team following recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Ensure freshness and quality of food items processed and stored
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures consistently
  • Support kitchen staff and collaborate with team members to meet service timelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas
  • Assist in inventory control and stock rotation
  • Communicate effectively with management and other team members
