As one of the largest public healthcare systems in the United States, Memorial Healthcare System operates multiple hospitals and outpatient facilities, offering a comprehensive range of medical services. The organization is committed to delivering exceptional care through patient-centered approaches, adoption of innovative technologies, and a highly skilled workforce. Their unwavering dedication to service excellence is reflected in "The Memorial Experience," which focuses on compassionate care, integrity, and respect for every individual.
This particular opportunity is for a Kitchen Prep role within Memorial Healthcare System's culinary department. The position plays a crucial part in supporting food service operations by preparing ingredients and components essential for meal preparation. Employees in this role work closely under the guidance of the Executive Chef to ensure that meals distributed to patients, cafeteria visitors, physicians, and catering services maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. The role involves utilizing various kitchen tools and equipment and performing food preparation tasks including washing, cutting, chopping, and measuring ingredients. Additionally, the Kitchen Prep worker must adhere strictly to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines which govern food requisition, storage, handling, and preparation, as well as the sanitation and maintenance of their work area.
This position requires candidates who possess critical thinking skills, the ability to exercise decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. The work environment may sometimes be stressful, demanding flexibility and appropriate action to meet operational demands. While formal education beyond a high school diploma is not a requirement, prior food service experience is preferred. Physical requirements are considerable and include considerable standing, walking, bending, stooping, and use of hands and arms repetitively, along with the ability to handle certain physical tasks safely. The shift for this role is during the day.
Moreover, Memorial Healthcare System is proud to provide equitable employment opportunities, encouraging candidates of diverse backgrounds to apply. The organization values diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity and offers veteran’s preference to qualifying military veterans, reservists, and military spouses. Employment at Memorial Healthcare System is contingent upon passing pre-placement assessments, including drug testing. Prospective employees are supported through reasonable accommodation processes during the application phase if needed.
Joining Memorial Healthcare System as a Kitchen Prep staff means committing to a culture of excellence in healthcare food services, contributing directly to patient satisfaction and nutrition, and being part of a team that values accountability, customer service, food safety, and high standards of kitchen sanitation. This role is integral to the seamless operation of food production within a healthcare setting that prioritizes patient and family-centered care and adapts dynamically to changes within a fast-paced environment.
