Job Description

Patagonia, a global leader in outdoor apparel and gear, is renowned for its commitment to environmental responsibility and social equity. Established with a passion for nature and sustainability, Patagonia has cultivated a unique corporate culture that emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and the welfare of its employees. The company’s dedication to protecting the planet is matched by its commitment to providing safe and supportive work environments where every employee feels valued and empowered. As such, Patagonia continuously seeks individuals who share their passion for social justice, environmental consciousness, and teamwork. This particular role is a Fixed Term Prep-Cook position located in Reno, Nevada, spanning a duration of six months from the date of hire. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 pm to 3:30 pm, offering an hourly wage starting at $24.50, with a hiring range from $21.50 to $26.50 per hour based on experience and skills.

The Prep-Cook at Patagonia is a key individual contributor within the culinary team responsible for assisting more senior cooks and chefs in the accurate and timely preparation of various food items. This includes preparation of hot and cold dishes across several meal periods such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, Grab 'N Go items, and occasional catered events. The role demands a combination of culinary skills, attention to detail, and high standards of cleanliness and organization. The Prep-Cook maintains a safe and sanitary workstation, adheres to food safety and allergen labeling guidelines, and performs routine dishwashing and equipment maintenance tasks as necessary. Flexibility in working hours and punctual attendance are essential to meet the dynamic demands of the kitchen environment.

Beyond routine food preparation, the Prep-Cook is expected to assist with the setup and breakdown of meal services, execute basic culinary techniques including knife cuts like julienne and dice, and operate under pressure to meet deadlines. Collaboration and communication are critical as the cook supports daily operations through strong teamwork and adherence to instructions. The job also requires an inclusive and professional attitude, ensuring positive interactions with coworkers and customers alike. Working primarily at multiple sites within Patagonia’s Reno and Verdi campuses, this role is suited for individuals passionate about culinary arts, motivated to uphold environmental and social values, and eager to contribute to a team oriented, fast-paced kitchen environment. This opportunity not only provides a competitive wage but also offers employees the chance to be part of an organization that prioritizes sustainability and social impact in everything it does.
