The Prep Cook position at Slater's 50/50 plays a crucial role in the kitchen’s daily operation by ensuring that the restaurant is well-prepared for service each day. Reporting directly to the Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager, the Prep Cook is responsible for preparing products, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role requires a strong attention to detail, good knife skills, and the ability to follow recipes accurately and efficiently. The Prep Cook must also adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation policies to ensure the health and safety of both staff and customers. This position demands physical stamina, communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • food handlers card
  • ability to stand and walk for 8 hours per shift
  • able to lift and carry racks or stacks of dishes weighing up to 50 lbs
  • able to lift and empty trashcans weighing up to 150 lbs with assistance
  • ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and lift frequently
  • ability to work in a hot, damp environment
  • familiarity with food safety standards
  • ability to follow detailed instructions
  • good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Read and execute all prep recipes accurately
  • prepare food according to preparation schedule and accomplish tasks in allotted time
  • demonstrate adequate knife skills
  • keep prep area clean and organized
  • maintain recipe book cleanliness and organization
  • maintain proper food storage and safety
  • maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • sweep and scrub floors
  • receive and store supplies
  • transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • execute line sweeps and trash change as necessary
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas
  • stock food and utensils on cook line, refrigerators, and storage areas
  • clean and prepare various foods for cooking or serving
  • follow all safety standards
  • follow proper food safety and sanitation policies
  • clock in and out and take breaks as required
  • abide by all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • report to General Manager, Kitchen Manager, and other supervisors as directed
  • perform duties with a sense of urgency and to expected standards
