Job Description
The Works is a thriving regional chain of community-focused cafes dedicated to delivering the highest quality food and unmatched customer service. Each cafe is thoughtfully designed to reflect the unique character and needs of the community it serves. This dedication extends to a commitment for sourcing healthy, local ingredients used in a variety of offerings including bagels, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, smoothies, and fresh-baked sweets. By placing emphasis on the health and well-being of customers, team members, and the environment, The Works has cultivated a vibrant, community-oriented culture that supports both personal and professional growth.
We are currently looking to hire a Prep Cook to join our back-of-the-house team in Amherst, MA. As a Prep Cook with The Works, you will play an essential role in supporting kitchen operations by preparing ingredients needed for daily menu offerings. This is a perfect opportunity for a food service professional passionate about food preparation and delivery of consistent, quality meals in a fast-paced environment. Whether you are experienced or looking to build your career in food prep, training will be provided for the right candidate. This role offers both full-time and part-time positions with a stable day shift schedule, allowing evenings free for personal time. The hourly pay range is $20.00 to $21.50 inclusive of average tips, reflecting competitiveness and reward for your efforts.
As part of the team, you will work behind the scenes slicing, dicing, measuring, and mixing ingredients while adhering strictly to food safety standards. You'll be responsible for maintaining stock levels, keeping the workspace clean and organized, conducting regular inventory checks, and assisting front-of-house team members when needed. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with the ability to multitask efficiently and communicate well with team members. Physical endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, along with the ability to bend, reach, balance, and transport items during shifts, are necessary. Weekend availability is also required as part of this dynamic, fast-moving work environment.
Joining The Works means becoming part of a supportive organization that values its employees and invests in their well-being. Industry-leading benefits include employee discounts on their nourishing meals, competitive pay with pooled staff tips, paid vacations encouraging work-life balance, and a comprehensive insurance program covering medical, dental, and vision. Performance-based bonuses offer additional incentive to succeed and grow within the company. If you enjoy working behind the scenes, thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, and understand the importance of consistency for customer satisfaction, this role at The Works could be the perfect fit for you.
