The Team Member role within Whole Foods Market’s Prepared Foods department offers an opportunity to be part of this inspiring mission. This position involves performing all functions related to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared food products while ensuring a positive experience for customers and fellow team members. Throughout your workday, you will assist with production across various Prepared Foods venues, ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of items, and maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas such as walk-in coolers and freezers. It is crucial to follow all recipes and use accurate measuring tools to meet Whole Foods Market’s high preparation standards. You will also handle waste documentation to optimize department profitability and provide customers with knowledgeable answers about Whole Foods Market’s products compared to conventional grocery alternatives.

In addition to hands-on food preparation, Team Members are expected to model exemplary customer service by addressing customer needs promptly, employing suggestive selling techniques, and upholding the company’s core values in every interaction. Flexibility in work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is a key aspect of this role. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various manual tasks such as bending, twisting, and using tools safely. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour workday
  • ability to use hands for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in temperatures ranging from less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing) to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Assist with production for all prepared foods venues
  • ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • help customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
  • ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
