This part-time Cook position at Corewell Health’s Nutrition Department in Grand Rapids is a unique opportunity to join a team dedicated to delivering delicious and nutritious food options as part of the healthcare experience. Working 32 hours per week with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, this role is vital to daily lunch service. It requires creativity and skill in scratch-cooking, including preparation of regional and global recipes, as well as a comfort level with plant-based meals. The Cook will be responsible for hot and cold production using line, prep, short order, catering, and mise en place methods. Key duties include assembling and preparing ingredients by cleaning and cutting, following standardized recipes accurately, recording temperatures on log sheets, ensuring food safety standards, and coordinating with other staff members to maintain smooth service operations. - High school diploma or equivalent
- CRT-Accredited Food Handler - ANSI National Accreditation Board 90 days and
- CRT-Accredited Food Allergy Certificate - ANSI National Accreditation Board 90 days
Job Qualifications

- vocational or technical vocational training in food service or currently enrolled
- student culinary internships student workers meeting internship requirements
- 1 year of relevant experience in food preparation or serving
Job Duties
- Assembles and prepares ingredients for cooking by cleaning and cutting
- follows standardized recipes, calculation ingredients based on weight and volume
- records temperatures correctly on temperature log sheets
- responsible to replace food items that do not fit standards
- stores food items as required, labeling and dating items per standards
- utilizes leftovers within allotted time
- sets up steam tables on patient and cafeteria tray lines
- communicates with other staff members to ensure continuity and coordination of services
