The role available is for a Prepared Foods Team Member, a vital position responsible for performing all functions related to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared food products. This role ensures that customers receive excellent service and that all food offerings meet the high standards set by Whole Foods Market. Team Members in Prepared Foods play a key role in maintaining product quality, adhering to safety and sanitation regulations, and supporting the overall customer experience.

Specifically, the Prepared Foods Team Member assists with production across all Prepared Foods venues, ensuring products are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated to maintain freshness and safety. They are accountable for following recipes accurately, using the correct measuring devices, and documenting waste and spoilage to control costs and reduce environmental impact. This position also involves educating customers about the differences between Whole Foods Market products and conventional alternatives, promoting informed choices and the company’s mission.

This role demands a team-oriented individual with strong communication skills who can maintain a clean and organized work environment, manage inventory effectively, and comply with health and safety standards. Team Members must be punctual, well-groomed, and prepared to work all scheduled shifts, including participating in trainings and meetings. The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $19.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market also provides a comprehensive benefits package known as "Whole Benefits," which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, paid time off, eligibility for a store discount, and access to other benefit programs. Employees become eligible for these benefits upon hire. New team members who successfully complete their first 90 days may be eligible for a base rate increase.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • able to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • able to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling with hands
  • capable of bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposed to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • able to work in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, between 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • able to work in wet and dry conditions
  • flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • able to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

Job Duties

  • Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
  • ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • maintains equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
