The part-time Prep Cook position at Cheshire Academy, located in Cheshire, Connecticut, offers an excellent opportunity to join a passionate and dedicated team under the Flik Independent School Dining brand. This role involves preparing food items that meet federal, state, and local food safety standards, following precise recipes and production schedules. The position requires a skilled individual who can deliver consistent, high-quality food preparation and contribute to a hygienic, well-organized kitchen environment.

Scheduled for Sundays and Mondays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, this part-time role is suitable for candidates with prior prep cook experience seeking a flexible but consistent work schedule. Pay ranges between $18.00 and $19.00 per hour, and benefits include free meals, uniforms, and laundering services at select locations. In this role, the Prep Cook will obtain daily production schedules from the Chef, prepare menu items according to established recipes, complete production and waste logs, and uphold strict sanitation practices in compliance with HACCP guidelines. Responsibilities also include operating kitchen equipment safely and cleaning it after use, storing food properly, serving customers efficiently, and maintaining documentation to meet quality and safety standards. The Prep Cook is pivotal in ensuring meals are not only delicious but also safe and served promptly, enhancing the overall dining experience within an educational setting.

Job Duties

  • Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef
  • prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes
  • complete and follow daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use
  • store, label and date all food items according to policy following HACCP guidelines
  • complete all required documentation, reports, logs as required
  • comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time
  • serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner
  • complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations
  • use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control
  • resolve customer concerns
  • perform other duties as assigned
