The Prep Cook role at Common Bond Bistro & Bakery is a vital position dedicated to ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations in the savory section of the restaurant. This role is focused on food preparation according to standardized recipes and involves close collaboration with the Commissary Supervisor to maintain par levels of savory items and ensure proper product rotation. The prep cook is responsible for maintaining the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards, which is crucial for food safety and customer satisfaction. Common Bond places great importance on food quality, safety, and the ability to minimize waste. The prep cook will assist in meal preparation by gathering ingredients in the correct order and quantity, according to prep lists, and will be tasked with labeling, storing, washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and meats following departmental standards and yield guides. The role also demands knowledge of kitchen equipment use with careful adherence to safe food handling and storage procedures as specified by health codes as well as company policies.

Job Qualifications
- Maintain uphold the standard of a professional restaurant image including kitchen cleanliness proper uniforms and appearance standards
- a food handler’s card or food manager’s certificate where required by local and state health code regulations
- must always be able to work an 8-hour shift standing up

Job Duties
- Creating meal preparations by gathering food ingredients in order on the prep list
- labeling and stocking all ingredients in their respective area of storage
- washing chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits vegetables and meats following yield guides according to departmental standards
- maintain complete knowledge of correct use of equipment and use equipment and tools only as intended properly and safely
- utilize serving portion sizes and basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
- inform a manager of any supplies that need to be requisitioned
- maintain proper storage procedures as specified by health department and company requirements
- minimize waste
- maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
- knowledge of all savory production in the kitchen
- additional duties as assigned
