Job Description

SSP America is a leading operator of food and beverage concessions across various transportation hubs, including airports, train stations, and motorway service areas. We are currently seeking an experienced Prep Cook to join our dynamic team at LaGuardia Airport. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage of $21.25 along with a comprehensive benefits package. As a Prep Cook, you will be an integral part of our kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation is carried out efficiently and in accordance with recipe specifications and hygiene standards. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, shows initiative, and maintains a positive attitude throughout their shift.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and assembling multiple portions of food items, following recipes precisely with attention to portion sizes and garnishing to present dishes attractively. You will manage the setup of your workstation and the kitchen at the beginning of each shift, ensuring all fresh, dry, and frozen goods, as well as condiments and supplies are properly ordered, stored, and rotated according to safety protocols. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of your work area and storage spaces is essential, as is adhering to hygiene standards using appropriate cleaning procedures and products.

  • Previous kitchen experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Follow the recipes checks the portion of the recipes the garnishes and present the dishes ordered
  • Have the correct and adequate set up in the kitchen work station at each shift including making orders storing fresh dry and frozen goods condiments and supplies
  • Handle store and rotate the stored products properly
  • Preparation and assembly of multiple portions of food items in batches
  • Complete the control sheets for opening in progress and closing if requested
  • Put all the utensils used during the shift in its place clean and tidy up work place and storage areas
  • Practice general and specific cleaning using appropriate products to meet hygiene standards
