The company is seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Prep Cook to join their team at the Under Armour location in Baltimore, MD. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have previous prep cooking experience and are passionate about food and hospitality. The position involves preparing food and serving customers while adhering strictly to federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. The Prep Cook will work Monday through Friday with varying hours, designed to ensure smooth kitchen operations and uphold the high standards that Compass Group is known for.

In this role, the Prep Cook supports the culinary team by following detailed production schedules and recipes as set by the Chef. They will handle daily food prep duties including measuring and preparing ingredients, maintaining production sheets, and keeping waste logs accurately. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, especially in food labeling, storage, and compliance with HACCP guidelines to ensure food safety and quality. The Prep Cook will be responsible for operating and cleaning kitchen equipment according to departmental procedures, providing excellent customer service by preparing quick-serve items and managing multiple service stations efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Previous prep cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, schedule may vary
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Willingness to comply with drug-free workplace policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous prep cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and production instructions
  • Understanding of food safety standards including HACCP
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef
  • Prepares items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes
  • Completes and follows daily production worksheets and waste log sheets, tastes completed meals to ensure quality
  • Operates and cleans equipment per department procedures after each use
  • Stores, labels and dates all food items according to policy, follows HACCP guidelines
  • Completes all required documentation, reports, logs as required
  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • Takes orders from customers and prepares items requiring short preparation time
  • Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Completes orders from steam tables and grill and serves customers at multiple stations
  • Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Resolves customer concerns
  • Performs other duties as assigned
