The company prides itself on fostering a vibrant, community-oriented culture where team members experience a dynamic and supportive work environment that offers continuous learning opportunities and the chance to grow within the organization.
The role of Prep Cook at The Works is essential to maintaining the high standards of food quality and service that customers expect. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Prep Cook will primarily be responsible for tasks such as slicing, dicing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, all performed with precision and efficiency. They will work behind the scenes to ensure smooth kitchen operations, enabling front-of-house staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience in food preparation, strong communication skills, and the ability to move quickly and efficiently between a variety of tasks. This role requires a commitment to consistency and reliability in producing food that customers can trust and enjoy every time. The position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities in the Guilderland, NY location, focusing on stable day-shift schedules with evenings free, which could appeal to those seeking work-life balance.

The Prep Cook’s responsibilities also extend to supporting the front-of-house team as needed, underscoring the importance of teamwork and flexibility.
Successful candidates are expected to be detail-oriented, physically capable of standing and walking for long periods during shifts, and able to perform repetitive actions such as reaching, bending, balancing, and transporting kitchen items. Weekend availability is required, as the cafe maintains busy service hours during those times.
Employees at The Works enjoy industry-leading benefits including an employee discount on meals, competitive hourly pay inclusive of average tips ranging from $21 to $23 per hour, paid vacations, and access to medical, dental, and vision insurance. The company also offers performance-based bonus opportunities, rewarding team members for their dedication and contributions.
