In this role as a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients using a wide array of kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, and broilers according to the daily prep list. Your duties will include following detailed recipes and portion sizes to ensure food quality and consistency, maintaining sanitation standards in your work area, and assisting with opening and closing kitchen procedures. Attention to detail is critical as you adhere to standardized portion sizes and cooking methods while also managing food rotation to maintain freshness and prevent waste. Communication is essential in this position as you will frequently interact with kitchen managers and team members to report any issues with equipment, food quality, or product shortages promptly. This position requires a reliable and motivated individual capable of working on their feet for extended periods and performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds and frequent reaching, bending, and stooping. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining the highest standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety. Job Requirements

  • Be 16 years of age
  • A minimum of 1-year experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)

Job Duties

  • Complete opening and closing checklists
  • Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipes
  • Label with day dots to assume rotation
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to kitchen manager
  • Inform kitchen manager immediately of product shortages
  • Uses standard recipe cards for preparing all products
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the kitchen manager or MOD
