Job Description
Pepper Moon is a dynamic and rapidly growing catering company known for its commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences across a variety of event types. As a key player in the catering industry, Pepper Moon prides itself on quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, operating with a strong team-oriented approach. The company is expanding its operations with a upcoming move to a new 40,000 square foot facility that includes a 7,000 square foot kitchen, modern office spaces, and a spacious warehouse, underscoring its growth trajectory and increasing demand for high-volume, high-quality catering services. This growth offers ample opportunities for career advancement and skill development within a flourishing culinary environment.
The Prep Chef role at Pepper Moon is an integral position within their fast-paced, high-volume catering kitchen. This role supports the culinary production team by focusing on three main prep stations: Hot Side, Cold Side, and Deli Prep, playing a critical role in ensuring menu items are prepared to exact specifications for large-scale events. The position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis, providing flexibility for various scheduling needs. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a busy environment, maintains a sharp attention to detail, and possesses strong time management skills. The Prep Chef works closely with station leads and culinary leadership to meet strict timelines without compromising food quality or presentation.
In this role, Prep Chefs are expected to accurately execute prep lists, meticulously follow standardized recipes, and maintain clean and organized work environments adhering to strict food safety standards. This position demands adaptability, clear communication, and teamwork—especially during peak catering seasons such as April Furniture Market, August Wyndham Championship, October Furniture Market, and the busy holiday event season in December, when all hands on deck are essential. Prep Chefs will handle ingredient receiving, storage, rotation, and assist in plating, garnishing, and packaging menu items for off-site events.
Success in this role is defined by timely and precise preparation supporting smooth kitchen operations, consistent quality and presentation, and a positive, professional attitude in a demanding, fast-moving kitchen setting. Candidates should have a culinary background or relevant experience, with ServSafe certification either completed or attainable through the company. Opportunities for ongoing career development and education underscore Pepper Moon’s commitment to its workforce, making this position ideal for individuals seeking to grow within the catering industry while contributing to memorable culinary experiences.
