Levy at Churchill Downs is currently hiring part-time, seasonal employees for the PREMIUM DINING BAR BACK position to support their Spring, Summer, and Fall racing seasons. This role pays $16.10 per hour and involves working in a fast-paced environment where hospitality and teamwork are essential. The Spring Racing Meet runs from late April through June, featuring prestigious events like the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, as well as Downs After Dark. The September and Fall Racing Meets provide additional opportunities to engage with patrons during thrill-filled racing days and themed events such as Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
The PREMIUM DINING BAR BACK position at Levy requires an individual who thrives on supporting bar operations efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and service. Bar backs play a critical role by receiving and replenishing liquor, beer, and wine supplies to ensure a smooth workflow. They also assist bartenders by preparing necessary beverage garnishes, setting up top-shelf liquor displays, monitoring beer tap functionality, and stocking bar snacks and napkins throughout shifts. Furthermore, this position includes responsibilities related to bar area cleanliness, such as bussing tables, washing surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and removing rubbish.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food or beverage service preferred
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- must be at least 18 years old
- ability to lift and carry moderate weight
- strong interpersonal skills
- ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
- must be legally authorized to work in the United States

- Previous experience in a bar or restaurant setting preferred
- ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment
- excellent communication and teamwork skills
- ability to stand for extended periods
- willingness to assist bartenders and other team members
- basic knowledge of beverage service and bar operations

Job Duties
- Receives all liquor, beer and wine from storeroom on a daily basis and as needed
- replenishes all liquor, beer and wine as needed in the bar throughout the shift
- retrieves all needed food items from kitchen and delivers to bar area
- retrieves all needed beverage items and garnishes from storerooms and delivers to bar area
- sets up bottles on bar with 'top shelf' liquor on back shelf
- ensures beer taps are working properly
- places appropriate bar snacks on counter
- keeps supplies, such as snacks and napkins, stocked throughout shift
- assists in opening and closing side work as assigned
- buses tables in bar area
- helps ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the bar or lounge areas
- washes work tables, walls, refrigerators and floors under equipment
- sweeps and mops service areas, including floor mats
- ensures rubbish is removed from all receptacles
- prepares and serves beverages as needed to assist bartender
- performs other duties as assigned
