The role of PR and Media Manager at Keesler Federal Credit Union is a critical and strategic position within the Marketing department. Reporting directly to the Director of PR and Communications, this exempt-level role is designed for a seasoned communications professional who is passionate about shaping and elevating the organization’s brand reputation and presence in the media landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive public relations strategies, managing media relations, overseeing reputation management initiatives, and leading storytelling efforts across multiple channels.

This leadership role includes supervisory responsibilities for the PR and Media Team, including interns and coordinators, encompassing all aspects of hiring, training, evaluating, and managing personnel performance. The PR and Media Manager will own the press program, maintaining strong relationships with local, regional, and industry reporters, and proactively pitching stories that enhance brand trust and awareness. Key duties involve drafting and distributing press materials, monitoring media coverage using tools like CISION, and planning media events such as branch openings and community sponsorships.

Moreover, the role requires the development of compelling narratives that reflect key themes such as member impact, product and technology innovation, and community engagement. Collaboration with Digital teams ensures that stories are adapted effectively for social media, web, and video platforms, maintaining cohesive messaging. This position also plays a central role in crisis communication readiness, creating and updating response plans and supporting real-time incident communications. Compliance with regulatory standards including NCUA, CFPB, BSA, and OFAC is crucial, as is cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Community Development, Member Experience, HR, and Compliance teams.

Candidates must have a college degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Journalism, English, or related fields, complemented by 5-7 years of relevant experience in PR, media relations, or corporate communications within financial or regulated industries. Exceptional writing skills, crisis communication expertise, media measurement fluency, and familiarity with media monitoring platforms are essential. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, computer proficiency, and the flexibility to travel as needed. Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a college degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in PR, media relations, or corporate communications preferably in financial services or regulated industries
  • Proven media results with portfolio of clips and strong reporter relationships
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with AP Style proficiency
  • Experience in crisis and issue communication
  • Ability to define KPIs and report communication outcomes
  • Familiarity with media databases and monitoring platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Experience with multimedia channels including video and blogs
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and build relationships
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Job Duties
