Job Description

AutoNation is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, renowned for its innovative products, exceptional services, and comprehensive automotive solutions. The company operates a vast network of dealerships nationwide, strengthened by a well-recognized brand and a commitment to empowering customers to make well-informed decisions that best suit their automotive needs. Offering an extensive assortment of new and used vehicles, customer financing options, genuine parts, and expert maintenance and repair services, AutoNation ensures a seamless and satisfying car ownership experience for its customers. The company is also deeply committed to corporate social responsibility through its DRV PNK initiative, which has raised over $40 million for cancer research and treatment, illustrating AutoNation's dedication not only to the automotive industry but also to making a positive impact on the communities it serves.

The role of Service Porter at AutoNation is critical in supporting the smooth operations of the dealership's service department. The Service Porter is entrusted with a variety of vehicle maintenance and service-related tasks that ensure each vehicle is handled with utmost care and returned to the customer in pristine condition. This position involves assisting with service write-ups and tagging customer vehicles, removing protective coverings and ID tags, inspecting vehicles carefully for stains, debris, or damages prior to customer delivery, and promptly reporting any issues. Additionally, the Service Porter is responsible for transporting customers and dealership personnel as needed, conducting deliveries, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle lot in accordance with dealership display standards.

Beyond these tasks, the Service Porter also handles the essential duties of cleaning both the interior and exterior of new and used vehicles, returning vehicle keys to the appropriate service consultant, managing the pickup and delivery of vehicles to storage, as well as collecting parts from the Parts Department. Battery testing of vehicles in the service drive and assisting with shop clean-up and deliveries further highlight the hands-on nature of this role. The position also entails maintaining the building and grounds, emphasizing the importance of a neat, safe, and welcoming environment for both customers and staff.

This is an hourly paid position, offering compensation in the range of $15 to $21 per hour, making it a rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and customer-focused environment. AutoNation seeks candidates who bring not only the technical skills required for the job but also a strong customer service orientation, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to handle machinery safely, including driving manual transmission vehicles. Holding a valid driver's license is mandatory, as is the ability to operate an automobile effectively.

Joining AutoNation as a Service Porter means becoming part of a forward-thinking company committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion while fostering a culture of belonging. Even candidates who may not meet every single requirement but who are passionate about making a positive impact are encouraged to apply. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to revolutionary work in the automotive industry while enjoying a supportive work environment and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
