Job Description
Hyde Park Hospitality (HPH) is a dynamic and rapidly expanding company rooted in the food service industry, recognized for its commitment to quality and innovation. Celebrated as one of the fastest-growing businesses in the Chicago area with a Crain's Fast 50 Award in 2024, HPH showcases remarkable growth and operational excellence in a competitive market. The company offers a diverse portfolio ranging from airport concessions and management staffing to brand licensing and contracted food and facilities management. With a workforce that emphasizes inclusivity, HPH boasts a 75% diverse senior management team, actively fostering an environment welcoming to individuals from all walks of life, including those varying in race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, and veteran status.
At HPH, employees are trusted to contribute directly to the company’s success while delivering exceptional customer service. One of its key operational segments is in airport hospitality services, such as managing airport lounges that prioritize guest comfort and satisfaction. The Porter role at the Airport Lounge in Buffalo, NY, is pivotal in supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring the maintenance of a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment that enhances guests’ experiences.
The part-time Porter position is scheduled for weekends, specifically Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a competitive pay rate of $17.50 per hour. Exceptional perks include a $250 signing bonus, full coverage of airport badging fees, and employee parking passes, which address common logistical concerns for employees working in airport settings. These benefits underscore HPH's commitment to making employment as convenient and rewarding as possible.
In this role, the Porter is instrumental in the smooth functioning of the lounge by efficiently organizing deliveries and storage and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and inventory management. Responsibilities include adhering strictly to food safety protocols such as the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method, managing stock levels for various lounge areas including kitchen, pantry, and bar sections, and performing regular inventory counts and product labeling.
Beyond logistical and maintenance tasks, the Porter also plays a key role in enhancing the guest experience by maintaining a hospitable demeanor—being friendly, courteous, and attentive at all times. Essential soft skills like active listening, conflict resolution, effective communication, and problem solving are integral to the role, ensuring challenges are handled professionally and swiftly.
This position demands physical capability, including standing for entire shifts, lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, and the ability to walk, bend, and twist as the job requires. Potential candidates must also successfully pass a security background check and obtain clearance required to work within an airport environment, underscoring the critical nature of safety and trust in this role.
Through this role, Hyde Park Hospitality offers a unique opportunity to engage in a vital support function within an energetic, customer-focused environment. Working as a Porter in the airport lounge not only enables an individual to develop practical skills in logistics, inventory management, and guest service but also contributes meaningfully to the seamless operation of an essential travel amenity. HPH’s supportive and diverse workplace culture, combined with tangible employee benefits, makes this part-time weekend position a compelling opportunity for motivated individuals poised to embark on or advance their hospitality career.
