Job Description
BH is a people-first multifamily owner and operator that has grown from a small startup into one of the nation's largest commercial real estate companies. Founded in 1993, BH is recognized for its strong commitment to integrity and investing in its team. Today, BH manages over 100,000 units, employs more than 2,800 people, and operates with fully in-house processes. The company is highly regarded by Fortune Magazine, having earned accolades such as "Best Workplace for Women," "Best Workplace for Millennials," and "Best Workplaces for Diversity." Driven by innovation and a proactive mindset, BH continually seeks to improve its services, aiming to create smarter ways to live, invest, manage, and grow within the multifamily housing industry.
At BH, the company culture is centered around inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The team prides itself on setting high standards, embracing challenges, and learning from mistakes. Employees are encouraged to think big, pay attention to details, and maintain a balance between dedication to work and a positive work environment. BH fosters a supportive atmosphere where everyone is empowered to contribute meaningfully and grow their careers in a dynamic and evolving market.
The Porter role at BH is a key position focused on maintaining and enhancing the exterior and interior conditions of BH's multifamily residential properties. Reporting directly to the Community Manager, this full-time onsite position plays a critical role in ensuring that the property’s grounds, common areas, and facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors. As a Porter, the individual will embody BH’s service-oriented approach by demonstrating professionalism and courtesy in every interaction, both with internal team members and external customers.
This role requires a hands-on approach to property upkeep, including tasks such as trash removal, landscaping assistance, upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, buildings, gutters, and other communal areas. The Porter may also support pool maintenance and the organization of work areas and maintenance shops. Attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner are essential to success in this role.
Physical endurance is an important aspect of the Porter’s duties, as the role demands frequent movement throughout the property and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The position involves exposure to various weather conditions and occasionally operating motor vehicles onsite. BH values employees who bring knowledge of basic maintenance, cleaning equipment, and landscaping to the table, as well as those who are willing to learn and adapt to new tools and technology as needed.
The work schedule for the Porter is Monday through Friday with potential variation in hours and occasional overtime to meet the business needs. BH offers a supportive and inclusive workplace where every employee is treated with respect and given the opportunity to advance. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in a stable, full-time career in property management with a company that champions diversity, employee growth, and integrity.
