The Porter role at BH is a pivotal position focused on maintaining both the exterior grounds and interior common areas of the properties managed by BH. Reporting directly to the Community Manager, this entry-level full-time position is located onsite and plays a vital role in upholding the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the property’s surroundings and shared spaces. The Porter represents the company with professionalism and courtesy and is committed to delivering excellent service to both internal teams and external customers.
The role involves a variety of duties aimed at property upkeep, such as maintaining the condition of landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, and buildings, as well as upkeep of trash areas like chutes and compactors. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to customer service are essential. The Porter will also assist with trash removal after move-outs, help maintain pool areas, organize workspaces and maintenance shops, and post community notices as needed.
This job requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform continuous movements like walking, bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing stairs, and operate equipment and hand tools safely. Outdoor work exposes the Porter to various weather conditions, demanding both durability and dedication. The work schedule typically includes Monday through Friday, with some overtime and potential participation in an on-call rotation to support business needs.

Job Requirements
- Entry level
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Full range of motion with upper and lower body including standing, walking, bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing stairs
- Ability to work with both hands for frequent grasping and manipulation
- Ability to push or pull items and reach overhead
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle onsite if applicable
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Basic education required
Job Qualifications
- Previous knowledge of grounds maintenance, landscaping and/or general maintenance/janitorial experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of basic interior/exterior maintenance, hand tools and cleaning equipment
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair is a plus
- Basic computer skills/knowledge required to perform job functions
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Maintain the condition of the exterior grounds and common areas of the property including trash chute, trash compactor, landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, buildings, and gutters
- Assist with trash outs after move-outs when applicable
- Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of work areas and maintenance shops
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining the pool and surrounding area
- Post notices to vacate and other community communication when applicable
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
