Job Description
Gerber Collision & Glass, a proud member of The Boyd Group, has established itself as a leader in the collision repair and glass services industry for over 80 years. Known for its exceptional customer service and high-quality repairs, the company embodies a team-oriented culture driven by integrity, diversity, and a commitment to excellence. Gerber Collision & Glass is more than just a workplace – it is a community where unique talents from all backgrounds are welcomed and valued. The company is dedicated to providing its employees with an elite infrastructure and a supportive environment that enables them to excel and grow in their careers. As part of The Boyd Group, Gerber is committed to maintaining a workplace that encourages personal and professional development, ensuring that every team member has the resources and collaborative support necessary for success.
The Porter position at Gerber Collision & Glass plays a vital role in complementing the quality of vehicle repairs by ensuring that customer vehicles are thoroughly cleaned prior to delivery. This role goes beyond simple cleaning duties to maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of both the shop and office facilities. It requires a proactive individual who meticulously executes the company’s WOW Operating Way (WOW) Plan, which focuses on exceeding customer expectations at every touchpoint. The Porter ensures that the interior of the office is maintained daily by emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting work areas. Additionally, the responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness in the production area by managing waste, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment.
This position also involves maintaining the appearance of parking lots and grounds, including snow removal when necessary, which is essential for customer safety and overall site presentation. Critical to the role is the pre-washing of customer vehicles before repairs begin and the exterior and interior cleaning of vehicles once repairs are completed. The Porter also handles the transportation of customer vehicles to sublet locations for specialized repairs, which requires a valid driver’s license and a strong sense of responsibility.
Gerber Collision & Glass seeks candidates who are 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED preferred, and who demonstrate strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities. Automotive experience is preferred but not required, as the company values a willingness to learn and a positive, customer-focused attitude. Physical demands for the role include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and operating a motor vehicle. The company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform their job functions effectively.
The hourly compensation for this role ranges from $14 to $20, reflecting the importance of the position within the company. Gerber Collision & Glass also offers competitive benefits that help support the overall well-being and success of its employees, including paid time off, parental leave, paid holidays, comprehensive medical and dental insurance starting from day one, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, and several other programs designed to enhance employee satisfaction, safety, and professional growth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to become part of a team committed to delivering outstanding customer experiences and continuous improvement within the collision repair industry.
