The role of Porter at The Niello Company is essential in maintaining the pristine condition and organization of the dealership’s vehicle inventory and lot. This position is integral to supporting sales and service operations by ensuring that all vehicles are clean, fueled, and properly arranged to create an inviting and efficient environment for customers and staff alike. Porters are responsible for a variety of tasks, including cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors, inspecting vehicles for defects, and using steam-cleaning equipment to maintain engine compartments. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities such as fueling vehicles, applying tire dressing, and vacuuming interiors to remove dirt and debris.
The position demands a strong attention to detail, physical stamina to handle regular lifting and movement, and the ability to operate equipment safely. Porters may also assist the sales and service teams by moving vehicles as needed and ensuring the lot is attractive and accessible. This role requires excellent communication skills, adherence to safety protocols, and a professional presentation to align with the company’s standards. The working environment involves both indoor and outdoor conditions, requiring flexibility to handle changing weather and a willingness to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- valid driver's license with a clean DMV record
- ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- professional personal appearance
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- able to meet company production and quality standards
- basic proficiency in technology including email, Microsoft Office, and mobile devices
- physical ability to work outdoors and indoors, including standing, walking, sitting regularly
- ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds
- occasional bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting
- ability to push, pull, and use repetitive hand movements
- availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- willingness to follow lawful directions and company policies
- commitment to customer satisfaction and team collaboration

Job Duties
- Wash vehicle exterior, clean interior and exterior windows, and wipe down doorjambs
- vacuum interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris
- clean engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents
- inspect vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation
- use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection
- fill vehicle with fuel
- apply dressing on tires and tire wells
- maintain showroom and stock vehicles in clean and presentable condition at all times
- keep work area neat and clean
- use buffer to detail vehicles
- report any safety issues immediately to management
- empty garbage into designated areas
- open lot for business and close lot when closing
- keep service drive clear and clean at all times
- clean customer lounge area and coffee area at all times
- maintain appearance of entire lot
- operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- park vehicles in accordance with policy and under direction of Sales/Marketing to ensure that the lot is attractive to potential buyers
- assist Sales and Service Staff in moving vehicles to ensure efficient dealership operations
- responsible for adding and maintaining key tags and window stickers on all lot vehicles
- drive vehicles to other dealerships for dealer swaps or to other vendors as requested
- may pick up or deliver customers as requested using dealership vehicles
- complete additional tasks as directed
