The Porter role at Gerber Collision & Glass is an integral part of maintaining the company's high standards for vehicle care and customer satisfaction. This position focuses on supporting the repair process by ensuring customer vehicles are thoroughly cleaned both before and after repairs, which helps to enhance the overall customer experience. Additionally, the Porter is responsible for keeping the shop and office facilities neat and orderly, contributing to a safe and professional work environment. These duties include daily housekeeping tasks such as emptying waste bins, sweeping floors, dusting, and maintaining the cleanliness of parking lots and grounds. The position may also require outdoor tasks such as shoveling sidewalks during inclement weather to ensure safety and accessibility.
This role also involves logistical support, including the transportation of customer vehicles to subcontracted repair locations as needed. Working closely with other team members, the Porter helps ensure that the repair facility operates smoothly and that vehicles are handled with care and professionalism. The role demands physical activity including pulling, pushing, carrying, walking, standing, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling at times. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are also essential.

Job Duties
- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
- maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the office including emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting countertops and work areas
- maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the production area including emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment
- maintain parking lots and grounds neatly including shoveling sidewalks when necessary
- pre-wash customer vehicles before repairs begin
- clean the exterior and interior of customer vehicles after repairs are complete
- transport customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs
