Job Description

Gerber Collision & Glass is a leading company in the automotive collision repair industry with more than 80 years of experience. As one of the largest collision repair companies in North America, Gerber Collision & Glass operates over 1000 locations across the United States and Canada, generating over $3 billion in sales annually. With a committed workforce of over 10,000 team members, the company is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and high-quality repair work. Their mission revolves around the concept of "WOW Every Customer and Be the Best," focusing on delivering a superior customer experience while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and professionalism.

The culture at Gerber Collision & Glass is inclusive, diverse, and devoted to employee growth and career advancement. The organization is known for welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans. Employees are encouraged to develop their skills with opportunities for continuing education, contributing to a dynamic and supportive workplace environment.

The company is currently hiring for the position of a Porter, a vital role within their repair facilities. This position is essential in complementing the quality repairs conducted by the technical team by ensuring vehicles are clean and presentable before delivery to customers. Porters help maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the shop and office facilities, contributing directly to Gerber Collision & Glass's WOW Operating Way (WOW) plan implementation.

The Porter role is well-suited for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to contribute to a positive customer service experience. Responsibilities include pre-washing customer vehicles before repairs begin, cleaning vehicles inside and out after repairs, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the production and office areas, and managing the upkeep of parking lots and grounds. Additionally, Porters may be required to transport customer vehicles to sublet locations as necessary.

This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The company seeks candidates who have at least a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver's license, and demonstrate strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities. Automotive experience is preferred but not mandatory. The Porter position is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in entering the automotive repair industry or advancing within Gerber Collision & Glass.

Gerber Collision & Glass offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $14 to $19, commensurate with skill, education, and experience. The company is committed to providing its team members with comprehensive benefits from day one, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, paid time off, paid parental leave, holidays, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match. Other benefits include employer-paid short-term disability and life insurance, voluntary life insurance options, continuing education opportunities, a uniform stipend, and free annual prescription or non-prescription safety glasses.

Choosing to work as a Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass means joining a reputable organization with a strong legacy and growth potential. Employees are part of a respectful and safety-focused team, working in a clean, organized environment that values personal development and teamwork. This role not only supports the company’s commitment to outstanding customer satisfaction but also provides foundational experience and opportunities for career progression within the automotive repair and service industry.
