The Porter position at Wild Rivers Irvine's Food and Beverage department is a seasonal part-time role classified as hourly non-exempt, with a competitive pay range between $19.00 and $22.00 per hour. This position primarily involves supporting the back-of-house kitchen operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment essential for food preparation and service. The Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, including operating and restocking dishwashing machines, handling chemicals safely, and responding promptly to any spills or emergencies within the kitchen workspace. This role requires a team-oriented mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment during weekdays and weekends. Collaborating closely with the Kitchen Supervisor and senior kitchen staff, the Porter helps uphold Wild Rivers' standards for sanitation and food safety, contributing significantly to guests' overall positive experience. Responsibilities include setting up and closing down porter stations, managing cleaning materials, maintaining equipment, and complying fully with California health regulations and Orange County Environmental Health standards. Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- If you are under the age of 18 and have not completed high school or equivalent, you must be able to obtain a work permit
- Must have a valid and current Orange County, California Food Handler’s Certification
- Ability to read, understand and follow sanitation standards, safety procedures and written instructions
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness, including shifting priorities and monitoring team needs
- Ability to solve problems quickly and exercise sound judgment during busy or stressful periods
- Effective memory recall for chemical and safety knowledge
- Constant standing, reaching, bending and grasping
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership
- Ability to remain both stationary and in constant motion for extended periods standing for most of the shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 40 pounds e.g., cases of ingredients, boxes, small wares
- Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive motions, including twisting, stirring, pouring and stocking
- Ability to work in hot or cold environments depending on porter station e.g., near hot dishwashers, cold sinks
Job Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- If under 18 and not completed high school or equivalent, must be able to obtain a work permit
- Must have a valid and current Orange County, California Food Handler’s Certification
- Strong multi-tasking and communication skills with a team-focused mindset
- Team-oriented with collaborative problem-solving skills and a positive, outgoing attitude
- Ability to handle team requests accurately and responsibly
- Prior porter, dishwasher or back-of-house experience in a theme park or any food service environment is preferred
- Prior completion of the California Food and Beverage Allergen training is preferred
Job Duties
- Clean, operate and stock dishwashing machines and properly handle chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines
- Clean items including floor drains, food and beverage walls, baseboards, restrooms, mop stations and sinks
- Respond promptly to kitchen spills, cleaning emergencies, leaks, trash can emptying
- Set up/close down porter station(s) at each shift, ensuring cleanliness, organization and functional equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of the porter station(s), its machines, three-compartment sink, cleaning materials, trash cans, grease traps, hood vents, small wares, storage racks, kitchen equipment and surrounding areas throughout the shift
- Stock and replenish various chemicals including pot and pan detergent, sanitizing solution to kitchen machines
- Handle general maintenance for kitchen equipment and food and beverage operational machines
- Complete closing duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, polishing and any checkout procedures
- Secure and verify all kitchen equipment, dishwashing machines, cabinets, dry racks and storage areas
- Collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and deliver exceptional cleanliness to our guests
- Follow all California health, safety, sanitation, and food handler standards and compliance requirements
- Adhere to company policies and procedures in alignment with the Orange County Environmental Health standards
