Job Description

LifeBridge Health is a prominent and dynamic health system serving communities across the mid-Atlantic region with a mission to improve the health of people in the communities it serves. Anchored by five leading centers including Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Grace Medical Center, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, LifeBridge Health offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services to meet the diverse needs of the population. With over 14,000 employees and more than 130 care locations, it is a well-established organization known for its commitment to innovation, community-centered care, and delivering outstanding patient experiences. The system handles around two million patient encounters annually, underscoring its critical role in the regional healthcare landscape. LifeBridge Health fosters a culture known as CARE BRAVELY, emphasizing compassion, courage, and urgency to empower its teams to make decisive, impactful healthcare decisions. Equality and inclusion are key priorities, with strict adherence to federal civil rights laws ensuring non-discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression.

The Porter position at Northwest Hospital, part of LifeBridge Health's facilities, is a vital role within the Dietary and Support Services departments. This PRN (as-needed) position is based in Randallstown, Maryland, offering flexibility in hours that vary according to the hospital's requirements. The pay range is competitive, with an hourly wage from $17.00 to $21.00, commensurate with experience. The primary responsibility of the porter is to uphold the highest standards of sanitation within the dietetic services department by maintaining kitchen cleanliness and equipment hygiene consistent with all regulatory requirements. It involves assisting the storeroom clerk in managing food and supply logistics, ensuring all food prep and service utensils, dishes, trays, and silverware are thoroughly washed, sanitized, and available for use. Other duties include waste removal from the kitchen and cafeteria areas to designated disposal points and regular cleaning of floors, walls, and ceilings as part of daily routines or special assignments. The porter also helps transport cleaned and soiled dishes and trays between sterile processing areas and materials management, playing an essential role in maintaining smooth operational flow and supporting patient care services.

This entry-level position is well-suited for individuals starting their careers or seeking flexible healthcare-related employment. The role requires basic skills, a high school diploma or GED, and less than one year of experience, making it accessible to a wide applicant pool. LifeBridge Health supports its employees with opportunities for professional growth, tuition reimbursement, and a collaborative workplace culture that helps develop foundational skills in critical areas of healthcare support. Benefits include competitive wages, overtime and shift differential compensation, premium pay, bonuses, comprehensive health insurance plans, free parking, and wellness programs, all designed to foster well-being and job satisfaction. Joining LifeBridge Health as a porter means becoming part of a team that prioritizes innovation, patient outcomes, and the diverse needs of the community it serves, offering a meaningful way to contribute to health and wellness across the mid-Atlantic region.
