This full-time, first-shift position is based in Houston, Texas, at 3100 Holcombe Blvd with a work schedule from Sunday through Thursday, starting at 6:00 a.m. until completion of duties. The hourly compensation is competitive at $16 per hour, with an additional $1.50 per hour cooler freezer pay to compensate for specific environmental working conditions. Key responsibilities include performing janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, and waxing floors, as well as maintaining good housekeeping standards throughout the facility. The porter also handles specific tasks like removing product temporarily from pick slots using electric pallet jacks to facilitate cleaning and then returning items properly, tending to spills involving damaged products or other substances, and managing waste materials like plastic wrap, shredded paper, and empty boxes efficiently and safely.

Porters at Grocers Supply work in environments with varying temperature conditions, including refrigerated zones around 28 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit and frozen areas between -20 and 0 degrees Fahrenheit, requiring adaptability to different workplace conditions. Physical demands are significant, including frequent lifting of products ranging from 1 to over 60 pounds, bending, pulling, and pivoting movements up to 90% of the shift, and safe handling of sharp objects such as box cutters.
