Job Description

The Country Club of Virginia (CCV) is one of America’s oldest and most distinguished private, member-owned clubs, founded in 1908 and located in Richmond, Virginia. Ranked number 7 on the Platinum Clubs of America list, CCV caters to over 8,000 members across a sprawling 1,111-acre estate. The club boasts two clubhouses located seven miles apart, 54 holes of golf, 24 tennis courts, five swimming pools, five dining outlets, three snack bars, a 100,000-square-foot fitness complex, and multiple event venues. During the peak season, CCV employs over 800 staff members and operates with an annual budget exceeding $52 million, reflecting its stature and commitment to providing excellent recreational and social amenities to its members.

The Country Club of Virginia is currently seeking several dedicated Poolside Café Bartenders for the summer season, a dynamic, seasonal, and part-time position. The Poolside Café serves three of the club’s five pools, providing convenient, high-quality food and beverage options for members and their guests throughout the summer. The café caters to a family-friendly clientele offering a menu ranging from quick grab-and-go items to freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, and other casual favorites. There is also a full-service bar located on the 18+ adult deck, featuring cocktails, beer, and wine served in a relaxed atmosphere.

As a Poolside Café Bartender, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding hospitality and service in a lively and energetic environment. This role demands multitasking, teamwork, and maintaining positive energy throughout your shift, especially during the peak summer hours. Your responsibilities will include preparing beverages according to established recipes, serving drinks with warmth and professionalism, maintaining proper inventory levels, complying with Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) regulations, and ensuring all hygiene and sanitation standards are met. The successful candidate will thrive within a fast-paced service environment, demonstrating strong customer service skills and a genuine hospitality mindset.

This is a part-time, seasonal role averaging about 25 hours per week, running from Memorial Day through Labor Day (May 31 to September 6). Shifts vary and include both opening hours from 10:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and closing hours from 3:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Weekend availability is required, and schedules may fluctuate based on business needs and weather conditions.

Joining the CCV team comes with several enticing perks and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Team members enjoy free employee meals while working, employee referral incentives, and access to education sessions focused on food and beverage industry skills. CCV is committed to a professional, values-driven workplace culture and recognizes outstanding team member achievements through initiatives like the High-Five program, which offers monetary rewards for peer-nominated excellence. Notably, CCV has been recognized as one of Richmond’s best places to work multiple times, including in 2021 and annually from 2023 through 2025.

Ultimately, this bartender position at The Country Club of Virginia offers a unique chance to be part of a prestigious and historic club community while enhancing your career in hospitality. Candidates who possess a passion for service, enjoy working in a vibrant, guest-centered environment, and embody a friendly, professional demeanor will find this role rewarding both personally and professionally.
