Job Description
Paragon Tropicana is a well-established hospitality company known for providing exceptional service and maintaining high standards in its operations. As an employer, Paragon Tropicana is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace environment that promotes equal opportunities for all employees regardless of their race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, or any other status protected by law. The company operates with a strong dedication to hospitality excellence, striving to deliver superior service experiences to its guests while fostering a positive work culture for its team members. With a focus on diversity and inclusion, Paragon Tropicana ensures that all team members have the opportunity to thrive and succeed within the organization. The company maintains the highest standards in compliance with health, safety, and employment regulations, including those outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring a fair and equitable workplace for everyone.
The role of Barback at Paragon Tropicana is an essential position within the food and beverage team, offering critical support to bartenders and enhancing overall bar service efficiency. This position is designed for individuals who have a passion for customer service and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Barback plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring that all bar supplies such as liquor, beer, wine, paper products, fruit, ice, and glasses are replenished and ready for use throughout the shift. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are necessary to anticipate the bartenders' needs and assist in providing prompt and courteous beverage service to guests.
Essential responsibilities of the Barback include assisting bartenders in serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, restocking refrigerated units with bottled beer, water, and other beverages, and handling heavy lifting duties such as replacing empty beer kegs. Additionally, Barbacks are responsible for preparing drink garnishes by slicing and pitting fruit, washing and polishing glassware and bar equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bar floor and surrounding areas. The role also involves collecting and disposing of empty bottles and trash to sustain a tidy and organized workspace.
The ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking capabilities, the ability to work well under pressure, and excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of standard beverage recipes, beverage preparation methods, and Point of Sale (POS) systems is highly desirable. Barbacks must follow strict health, safety, and sanitation protocols to ensure guest satisfaction and compliance with regulatory standards. Furthermore, candidates must have a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with both guests and team members, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to accept performance feedback constructively.
This position typically requires a high school diploma or GED, along with some experience in the hospitality or bar service industry. Relevant certifications such as a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, and Non-Gaming Card are preferred and sometimes required. Physical stamina is important as the job involves pushing and pulling heavy loads up to 100 pounds.
Paragon Tropicana promotes a team spirit that values cooperation and mutual support among colleagues, emphasizing cost-consciousness and a strong drive to achieve quality in every task. The Barback position is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance their careers in the hospitality field while working for a reputable company that values its employees and guests alike.
