The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Boca Raton Hotels is a dynamic leadership position designed to support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing restaurant operations with a goal to deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining exceptional food and beverage standards. This position involves direct supervision of staff, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, and maintaining the overall quality and operational efficiency of the restaurant. The Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a critical role in staff training, scheduling, and counseling, ensuring all team members align with the hotel's values and service expectations. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • At least one year experience in related field preferred
  • Food service sanitation certification
  • Alcohol service permit if state required
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Proven team player with leadership skills
  • Must exemplify honesty, integrity, humility, and leadership
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, and see
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including busy periods
  • Able to pass pre-employment substance abuse testing
  • Committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace

Job Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of room service operations including foods, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • Knowledge of beverage operations and wines
  • Strong mathematical abilities to determine and track inventory, controls, revenue production, and other financial statements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction
  • Experience assisting senior management in team building and management
  • Ability to implement and maintain company policies
  • Ability to develop a positive company culture
  • Ability to create forecasts and budgets for controllable costs
  • Knowledge of DOH, fire safety, and employment regulations standards

Job Duties

  • Train, supervise, counsel and discipline staff for the efficient operation of the outlets
  • Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes
  • Schedule and direct staff in their work assignments
  • Ensure the restaurant complies with sanitation and safety standards for guests and employees
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order
  • Visually inspect and take corrective action to ensure facilities in the restaurant look appealing and attractive to guests
  • Provide guidance for improvement and implement necessary adjustments
  • Oversee work orders to ensure repairs and maintenance of the facility are completed on a timely basis
  • Manage and monitor product quality and guest satisfaction in the restaurant
  • Ensure that food quality is consistent, appealing, and prepared to guest specifications
  • Move throughout facility and kitchen areas to monitor and take corrective action to maintain food quality and service standards
  • Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products, and check preparation methods for quality
  • Provide guidance for improvement and implement necessary adjustments
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on quality of service and food, and resolve guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Document inventory forecast usage and monitor supply to ensure the restaurant is stocked with necessary items
  • Oversee set up of dining and service areas
  • Review and evaluate customer satisfaction regularly
  • Recommend new marketing and operational policies as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and all local, state and federal laws
  • Participate in the development, implementation and marketing of new and creative menus
  • Promote cross-selling of other hotel outlets and The Boca Raton Hotels
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of all work and service areas
  • Assist the General Manager in building and managing a team of front and back of house team members
  • Implement, oversee, and maintain all company policies and procedures
  • Create a positive company culture of commitment to excellence
  • Create forecasts and budgets for controllable costs
  • Maintain standards according to Department of Health, fire safety, and employment regulations
