Job Description
Founded in 1919, Woodbury Corporation is a privately-held company renowned as one of the oldest and most respected hospitality and real estate development firms in the Intermountain West. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, the company boasts ownership and management of hundreds of commercial and residential properties as well as several prestigious Marriott and Hilton hotel properties. Woodbury Corporation has cultivated a remarkable legacy defined by a philosophy of "integrity over income" that has guided its operations for over a century. The organization supports a diverse and talented team of professionals dedicated to various sectors including accounting, architecture, asset management, consulting, development, hotel management, legal, sales, and leasing, reflecting its multifaceted approach to business excellence and community commitment.
This role pertains specifically to the hospitality division of Woodbury Corporation, focusing on the culinary team within its portfolio of hotels. As a cook, the candidate will play an essential role in preparing dishes designed to delight hotel guests with exceptional taste, presentation, and timely delivery. The position requires proficiency in handling various ingredients and cooking equipment efficiently within a fast-paced kitchen environment. The cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, including chopping, peeling, and cutting, as well as cooking food using a range of utensils and grillers. Attention to detail is crucial, as the role involves checking food during preparation to ensure proper cooking and applying appealing presentation techniques by dressing dishes before serving. Maintaining sanitation and order in the kitchen is mandatory to uphold the company’s high standards of hygiene and safety. Additionally, monitoring food quality, managing inventory, and placing orders as necessary form key components of the job duties.
The position is physically demanding, frequently requiring the associate to walk, stand for extended periods, and use hands and arms for various kitchen tasks. The ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate good vision capabilities, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to work effectively in the kitchen environment.
This opportunity offers a wage of $14.00 per hour and presents a chance to join a respected and legacy-driven company that values professional growth, teamwork, and guest satisfaction. While prior cooking experience and culinary training are helpful, they are not mandatory, making this an excellent entry point for enthusiastic individuals looking to build a career in hospitality. The ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, well-groomed, and capable of thriving in a collaborative and dynamic workplace. A commitment to guest service excellence, safety, and quick learning is strongly emphasized, aligning with Woodbury Corporation’s overarching mission to provide unmatched hospitality experiences.
