Job Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma required, formal culinary education preferred but not required
- Current California Food Handlers Certificate
- Ability to communicate and understand English and some Spanish
- Well groomed with proper hygiene and uniform
- Capability to stand for at least 8 hours a day
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Must have stamina and availability to work at least 40 hours per week including weekends and some holidays
- Display ethical and professional standards set by Tartine
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a line/pizza cook
- Effective oral communication skills and ability to work as a team player
- Ability to work without constant supervision
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards
- Basic math skills
- Ability to understand English and a reasonable amount of Spanish
Job Duties
- Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Tartine
- Execute recipe processes and techniques developed by the kitchen management team to ensure consistency and quality
- Coordinate daily tasks with the sous chef(s) and/or pastry chef
- Write prep lists and execute mise en place lists to ensure all components of menu items are delivered promptly
- Own the cooking stations, understanding how to make all dishes and complete necessary prep
- Clean all equipment and workspaces following specific cleaning procedures
- Work gracefully in a fast-paced, high-volume workplace
