The Artisan Bread Baker role at Erewhon Market is a vital position within the company that combines skilled craftsmanship with a passion for high-quality, artisanal baking. This role is responsible for producing premium breads from scratch, using carefully crafted recipes and attention to detail to meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The Artisan Bread Baker will apply expert knowledge of starters, naturally leavened breads, hand shaping techniques, and deck oven usage to create a diverse range of bakery products. This position requires proficiency in measuring and mixing ingredients, operating baking equipment such as mixers and blenders, and managing production processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.

In addition to baking, the Artisan Bread Baker will oversee bakery production management, maintain cleanliness and appropriate inventory levels, and adjust production forecasts as needed in coordination with the bakery director. The role demands a high level of organization, time management, and the physical ability to lift heavy items and perform tasks involving bending and twisting.   • Strength to lift up to 50 pounds plus bending and twisting

Job Duties

  • Be able to bake products from scratch, following carefully crafted recipes
  • Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make artisan breads
  • Knowledge of starters, naturally leavened breads, hand shaping and utilization of deck oven
  • Ensure the highest quality of product is produced at all times and in a timely manner
  • Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls
  • Manage bakery production, maintaining cleanliness and appropriate inventory levels
  • Forecast and adjust production level as needed, or as directed by Director
  • Additional duties as assigned by management
