The Vault Custodian role is an integral part of Loomis’s operations, where precision, accountability, and teamwork are essential. As a Vault Custodian, you will be responsible for managing the inventory within Loomis’s cash vaults, working closely with your team to handle cash, coins, checks, and related valuables. This position requires a keen eye for detail as you will verify the accuracy of deposits by cross-referencing identifying numbers or seals on bags against receipts and manifests.

Your duties will also involve counting items meticulously, recording amounts and serial numbers, as well as signing and dating various documents to track transactions accurately. Operational tasks will include loading and unloading wagons or carts loaded with currency and coin, sorting cargo items by delivery routes, and maintaining clear and effective communication with team members and customers. This full-time role usually involves shifts starting in the afternoon and lasting 8 to 10 hours, with occasional extension until duties are completed.

The position demands physical endurance and strength, as candidates must be capable of handling items weighing around 50 lbs multiple times per shift and maneuvering carts loaded with heavy cargo. The work environment is typically a vault room with limited natural light, where employees spend much of their day standing and walking on concrete floors. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive physical movements such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and lifting. Attention to detail, basic arithmetic skills, and the ability to accurately fill out reports and documents are also critical components of the job.

Applicants must meet specific security requirements including holding a valid firearms permit or the ability to pass the necessary state firearms licensing process.
