Job Description
Pelican Playgrounds is a growing recreation design and construction company that operates throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The company specializes in designing, selling, installing, and providing customer support for a variety of commercial recreation products, including playground systems, shade structures, park amenities, splash pads, dog park equipment, site furnishings, and much more. Pelican Playgrounds is dedicated to creating safe, accessible, and unique play spaces in the Gulf South region. The company’s mission is rooted in the belief that children and communities flourish when given ample opportunities to be outdoors, engage in physical activities, and enjoy creative play. Joining Pelican Playgrounds means contributing to the company's vision of building joy across the Gulf South by crafting distinctive and engaging recreation environments.
The role of Outside Sales Representative and Project Manager at Pelican Playgrounds offers an exciting opportunity to manage and grow a well-established territory in Louisiana. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Market Expansion, this position is a blend of sales, project management, and client relationship responsibilities. It is designed for a highly motivated individual who thrives on creativity, organization, and independence. The role demands a unique combination of skills—someone who excels at nurturing relationships with clients, enjoys sales prospecting, and is equally comfortable overseeing projects from initial concept through to successful installation and completion.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling a diverse client base that includes public and private schools, municipalities and parishes, parks and recreation departments, religious organizations, childcare centers, homeowners associations, and private developers. This territory offers significant growth opportunities due to its existing strong sales history and untapped potential. The position requires a self-starter with a results-driven mindset, an ability to take initiative, and a hands-on, “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to work. Pelican Playgrounds supports its team through ongoing training, certifications, and mentorship to ensure continued professional development and success.
As part of the role, the representative will take full ownership of territory performance, managing sales, repairs, drop shipments, and projects from start to finish. The responsible party will create and execute annual territory prospecting plans, meet or exceed sales goals, and keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and project opportunities by leveraging social media, news alerts, and AI tools. The position includes heavy outside activity, with client meetings, site visits, and prospecting calls happening regularly, alongside ongoing customer and project communication.
The Outside Sales Representative and Project Manager will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date records in the company’s CRM (Zoho) and other internal systems like Workdrive and Books, ensuring all sales and project activities are documented accurately. This role involves considerable travel within Louisiana, estimated at 700 to 900 miles monthly, with frequent on-the-road days and occasional overnight stays covered by the company. The successful candidate will represent Pelican Playgrounds at various regional conferences, trade shows, and networking events and occasionally travel out-of-state for professional development opportunities. Overall, this position offers a dynamic and rewarding career path for individuals passionate about driving sales and delivering projects that make a lasting community impact.
