With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates nationwide, Airgas fosters a culture where diversity, inclusion, and empowerment are fundamental, encouraging employees to share their ideas, take initiative, and actively participate in decision-making processes.
As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from a worldwide presence spanning 60 countries with about 66,500 employees who collectively serve more than 4 million customers and patients globally. This affiliation enhances Airgas's capability to provide cutting-edge solutions while supporting sustainable, safe, and efficient operations.
The Plant Operator/Backup Delivery Driver position located in Ankeny, IA, is a critical role within the acetylene production and filling plant. This full-time, Monday through Friday, day-shift role offers hourly compensation of $28/hr and includes quarterly bonus potential alongside a comprehensive family-focused benefits package. This package supports the whole life of employees and includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Notably, the company also offers a 14-week paid childbirth benefit to support growing families, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Employees gain early access to benefits starting after just 30 days of employment.

Operating company-provided straight or box trucks, the individual manages cylinder flow and builds lasting relationships with customers, embodying Airgas's dedication to safety and customer satisfaction. Besides driving, the position involves warehouse and dock support duties, ensuring smooth operations.
The role demands adherence to rigorous safety standards including SAFECOR and compliance with regulations from authorities like DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. The ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure is crucial as is the capacity to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting weights ranging from 25 to over 125 pounds with assistance from material handling equipment. Candidates must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License, a valid Medical Examiner's Card, and ideally a Hazmat Endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to grow their careers with a top-tier company that values work-life balance, safety, and professional development.
