As an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, Guest Services considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected Veteran status.
The role of Cook at Guest Services is a vital position within the culinary team, supporting the Chef or General Manager by ensuring high-quality food preparation and cooking aligned with the company’s standards. This hourly role offers compensation at $12.00 per hour, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop or grow their culinary careers in a dynamic and supportive environment. The position involves direct hands-on responsibility for preparing and cooking food items according to predetermined recipes and daily menus, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, inspecting equipment for proper operation, and following food safety and sanitation protocols.
The Cook operates food stations diligently, conducting station checklists, temperature logs, and ensuring clear signage is maintained. Responsibilities also include requisitioning food supplies and kitchen equipment based on anticipated needs, monitoring the menu usage to control costs, and maintaining a constant awareness of kitchen safety issues to report concerns immediately.
Working as a Cook at Guest Services means engaging in a fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The role demands the ability to frequently move within the kitchen, handle various physical tasks like lifting items up to 50 lbs, standing for the full workday, and adapting to temperature extremes present in kitchen areas such as freezers and grills. Cooks must also effectively read, write, and communicate in English to ensure clarity and understanding among teammates and customers alike.
The use of standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils is a daily expectation for this role, requiring familiarity and competency with culinary tools and practices. The successful candidate will have a foundational high school level education, with a preference for those holding a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Additionally, the position requires culinary knowledge and Food Safety certification, underlining the importance of safe food handling and sanitation habits.
