  • two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • at least six months experience in a similar capacity
  • able to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen personnel
  • able to reach bend stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 9 hours

Job Duties

  • promote work and act consistent with the mission of Legacy Restaurant and affiliates
  • prepare pizzas from menu and custom orders
  • bake various types of pizza dough including thin crust, thick crust and calzones
  • wash and chop vegetables and meats for toppings
  • monitor and manage food stock
  • use less traditional ingredients like vegan cheese and gluten-free flour
  • cook appetizers including bruschetta, pretzel bites, chicken wings, garlic breads and salads
  • recommend new recipes to update menus
  • maintain clean cooking station and sterilize equipment
  • inspect and clean food preparation and serving areas to ensure safety
  • regulate temperature of ovens and kitchen equipment
  • rotate stock to ensure freshness
  • comply with portion sizes and kitchen policies
  • ensure quality of all served products
  • stock and maintain food levels during service
  • handle and rotate food products per policy
  • turn or stir foods for even cooking
  • season and cook food according to recipes
  • bake roast broil and steam various foods
  • weigh measure and mix ingredients
  • portion arrange and garnish food
  • test foods for doneness by tasting smelling or piercing
  • follow plate presentation standards
  • carve and trim meats for service
  • assist in food prep during off-peak
  • substitute for other cooks in emergencies or rush periods
  • close kitchen following checklist
  • attend meetings and suggest improvements
  • coordinate and assist team to meet guest needs
  • fill in for employees as needed to maintain service standards
