At its Café Flik location in One American Square, Indianapolis, Indiana, Compass Group is currently seeking dedicated full-time Pizza Cooks to join their culinary team. This role is integral to providing high-quality food and exceptional service to clients and customers. The position is structured with a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, offering a competitive pay rate between $19.00 to $20.00 per hour.

The Pizza Cook will be responsible for preparing food items from scratch, ensuring that every dish meets the company’s stringent standards for quality, safety, and taste. Candidates should bring experience in scratch cooking, deli, or pizza preparation. This role requires a hands-on approach and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Applicants can expect to participate in production planning, inventory management, and maintaining operational standards in compliance with federal, state, and corporate guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • From scratch cooking, deli, or pizza experience required
  • Ability to work full time Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols including use of protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes
  • Ability to perform job duties in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Must be able to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in from scratch cooking, deli or pizza preparation
  • Ability to follow recipes and operational procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen environments
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with company policies
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning and meeting standards
  • Tastes all prepared food items to ensure quality
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents immediately
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • Commits personally to safety of self and others
  • Abides by company policies including use of cut gloves, oven mitts, fryer gloves, slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques
