Job Description
This opportunity is presented by a highly respected, mission-driven Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) located in Springfield, Massachusetts. The PACE program is designed to provide comprehensive medical and social services to frail elderly individuals, supporting their ability to live independently and with dignity in their own communities. This particular PACE program is the largest site in New England and the sixth largest in the entire United States. They are renowned for their quality-over-quantity model of care, emphasizing personalized attention rather than high patient volumes typical of fee-for-service systems. This approach allows physicians to fully address both clinical and social needs of the participants, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment.
The organization is actively seeking an Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Physician to join their interdisciplinary healthcare team in Western Massachusetts. The position offers a unique chance to practice advanced geriatric medicine within a collaborative team structure including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, and dieticians. The program emphasizes team-based care delivered through site visits, home visits, and visits to nursing homes, focusing on enabling frail elders to maintain their independence.
This physician role follows the Boutique Practice Model, characterized by lower patient volumes and no pressure of high daily caseloads. The average patient load per day is between 2-5 patients, coming from a total panel of 60-75 per team, which enhances the quality of patient interactions and physician satisfaction. Physicians enjoy a convenient Monday to Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or holidays. They also receive one administrative day per week dedicated entirely to non-clinical responsibilities, supporting work-life balance and reducing burnout. The call schedule is very light, shared among several providers, and phone-only with an average of one call per 12 physicians.
Compensation is highly competitive with a base salary ranging from $275,000 to $300,000 annually, depending on experience. Additional financial benefits include generous sign-on bonuses, corporate incentive bonuses, and annual salary increases tied to both personal and corporate performance. The organization provides comprehensive benefits such as 23 days of paid vacation annually (which increases after five years), 12 paid holidays, and five sick days. Continuing Medical Education (CME) is supported with a $2,500 annual budget, and insurance coverage includes health, dental, disability, and liability policies. Additional perks include 401K retirement plans with company match, paid professional license fees, and relocation assistance for eligible candidates.
Massachusetts ranks as one of the best states to live in due to its outstanding health system performance and quality education. Western Massachusetts offers a scenic, vibrant lifestyle with historic towns, respected universities, winding rivers, and beautiful natural landscapes including lush farms, forests, valleys, and rolling hills. The four seasons provide year-round outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and skiing. Cultural attractions include the Basketball Hall of Fame and a rich local arts scene. Convenient travel access allows easy day-trips to major metropolitan and recreational hubs including Boston, New York City, Hartford, Albany, Cape Cod, and the Berkshire Mountains.
This is an exceptional career opportunity for physicians dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the elderly population, who value compassion, collaboration, excellence, respect, and integrity. The program supports J1 and H1B visa sponsorship for suitable candidates, making it an ideal choice for international medical graduates seeking a meaningful career in geriatric medicine in a supportive and well-resourced environment.
