Job Description
Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, is a unique Hawaiian-themed vacation destination located in Ko Olina, Hawaii. This enchanting resort offers guests an immersive experience blending Disney magic with the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Hawaii. Aulani is renowned not only for its stunning accommodations but also for its exceptional guest services, world-class amenities, and enchanting experiences that bring families and visitors of all ages together. The resort is designed to create lifelong memories through engaging activities, delicious dining, and character encounters that capture the spirit of aloha. As part of the Walt Disney Company, Aulani combines excellent hospitality standards with authentic Hawaiian traditions to deliver a magical and memorable stay for every guest.
The role of Photopass Photographer at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of capturing magical moments for guests. This position involves approaching and engaging guests to create high-quality photos that guests can cherish for years to come. Photographers at Aulani work both indoors and outdoors with state-of-the-art photographic equipment, covering various locations throughout the resort. Their responsibilities include capturing character experiences with beloved Disney characters, photographing interactions during character dining experiences, and documenting resort activities such as family events and children's playtime. This role demands a high level of creativity and technical skill to produce images that meet Disney's standards for quality and storytelling.
Beyond photography, the role is highly interactive and guest-focused. Photographers greet guests warmly, anticipate their needs, and provide information about resort features, events, and directions. They play a vital role in enhancing the guest experience by promoting Disney's PhotoPass services and selling dining photo packages directly at guests' tables during breakfast, dinner, and luau events. Photopass Photographers also assist guests in viewing their photos and providing troubleshooting support for camera equipment to ensure a seamless photo experience.
The position requires physical stamina and flexibility as photographers often work outdoors for long hours, standing, walking, and maneuvering through various weather conditions such as heat, rain, wind, and sun. Handling and transporting photography equipment weighing up to 40 pounds is part of the daily routine. To excel in this role, candidates should be personable, detail-oriented, and capable of engaging guests to craft personalized magical experiences. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with manual DSLR camera settings and knowledge of Hawaiian or Japanese languages, enhancing communication with a diverse guest base.
This is a part-time role that requires availability for a minimum of three full days per week, including weekends. Training involves working up to 40 hours per week, with a competitive pay rate of $27.40 per hour. The resort offers various perks and benefits like tuition paid upfront at network schools, free lunch, free parking, free theme park admission, and more, making it an attractive position for individuals passionate about hospitality, photography, and Disney storytelling.
