Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician position at Walgreens is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the pharmacy team in fulfilling prescriptions and managing inventory accurately. This role encompasses various responsibilities including operating cash registers, assisting customers with product inquiries, and performing clerical duties related to pharmacy operations under the supervision of licensed pharmacists. Job Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English except in Puerto Rico

- meet state and federal regulations for pharmacy technician roles
- basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and regulations
- ability to use pharmacy systems efficiently
- good interpersonal and communication skills
- high school diploma or equivalent
- able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks when required
- pass background checks and drug screening as per company policy.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in retail or pharmacy environment preferred
- PTCB certification preferred
- good math skills for accurate prescription filling
- good computer skills
- prior experience with Walgreens preferred
- knowledge of store inventory control
- ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to pharmacy codes of conduct
- strong customer service orientation
- ability to work in a team setting
- flexibility to adapt to varying schedules.
Job Duties
- Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience
- registers sales on assigned cash register, provides customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service
- assists the pharmacist under supervision by using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
- engages customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance and resolving customer issues
- shares customer service best practices with team members including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits
- provides customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service
- recommends items for sale, trade-up, and companion products
- processes customer purchases, voids, returns, refunds, and exchanges
- maintains clean and well-merchandised counters and shelves
- assists in inventory, pricing, and records maintenance
- supports pharmacy operations including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine and checking for interactions
- reports prescription errors promptly
- adheres to Walgreens pharmacy codes and policies
- handles non-pharmacist telephone calls including physician communications
- processes manual claims for third-party prescription services
- assists with pharmacy inventory management
- ensures compliance with state and local laws on regulated products
- constructs and maintains displays and promotional merchandise
- manages consumable stock rotation and product placement
- operates store systems and equipment
- provides photo area customer service and manages web pick-up orders
- assists with store maintenance and follows company policies and procedures
- completes special assignments as directed
- earns and maintains PTCB certification and completes required training and continuing education.
