Job Description
Sharp HealthCare is a renowned healthcare provider known for its commitment to excellence, patient-centered care, and innovative medical services. As a respected hospital system in California, Sharp HealthCare delivers comprehensive healthcare solutions through its network of hospitals, clinics, and specialized care centers. With a strong focus on enhancing the quality of life for the communities it serves, Sharp HealthCare integrates advanced technology, expert staff, and compassionate care to set a high standard in the healthcare industry.
This job opportunity is for a dedicated pharmacist position within the Pharmacy Services department at Sharp HealthCare. The role is structured as a variable shift position, requiring coverage during the hospital's 8-hour work shift without weekend duties or on-call requirements. Offering a competitive hourly pay range starting at $90.51, with mid and maximum values reaching $116.79 and $130.80 respectively, this role provides a financially rewarding career path aligned with experience, skills, education, and market conditions.
The pharmacist position is designed to support Sharp HealthCare's mission and values by delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care through clinical and technical expertise. The role involves a broad spectrum of responsibilities including clinical pharmacy practice, management, education, regulatory compliance, financial oversight, and quality improvement. The pharmacist will act as a pivotal liaison between departments, collaborating with hospital and medical staff committees to facilitate education, staff development, and program implementation.
Key duties include organizing and managing educational inservices, drug monographs, and continuing education programs for pharmacy staff. The pharmacist ensures the pharmacy department is up to date with healthcare changes and regulatory standards while actively participating in multidisciplinary teams and committees to advance the pharmacy profession. Human resource management duties involve overseeing staff performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, and maintaining employee records, contributing to a positive and compliant work environment.
Financial accountability is a critical aspect of the role. The pharmacist will manage the pharmaceutical budget, analyze drug and therapy-related expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and pharmacoeconomic improvements. Patient care responsibilities focus on maintaining quality performance metrics, contributing to clinical pathway development, and implementing pharmacotherapy improvement programs while adhering to accreditation standards.
The role demands strong leadership qualities, encouraging teamwork, initiative, and professional growth among pharmacy staff. The pharmacist will foster a positive work culture through effective delegation, feedback, and support. Additionally, the position oversees training and experiential education programs including residency program management, ensuring all initiatives meet accreditation requirements for pharmacy operations.
Regulatory compliance is maintained through thorough review of quality reports, policy development, and preparation for inspections such as those by The Joint Commission. The pharmacist must have proficient computer skills, particularly in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management, to effectively execute their responsibilities.
Sharp HealthCare champions equal opportunity employment, embracing diversity, and inclusion in hiring practices regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or veteran status. This role is ideal for a seasoned pharmacist with leadership experience and recognized certifications, ready to contribute to a leading healthcare organization's success while advancing pharmaceutical care practices.
