As a part of this dynamic environment, Peter B's Bartenders serve a critical role in enhancing the overall guest experience through effective beverage and food service.
The bartenders at Peter B's are entrusted with the responsibility of preparing and serving food and beverages in a manner consistent with the high standards of the Portola Hotel and Spa. This position is predominantly a PM shift role, requiring work from 3 PM to closing, three shifts per week, with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate. The role requires adherence to all health regulations and local liquor laws, ensuring compliance and safety at all times. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, reflective of the professional standards expected at this notable hospitality venue.
This role involves working closely with guests to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, showcasing excellent customer service skills and a thorough knowledge of the menu offerings, including the ability to recommend dishes and explain their preparation. The bartenders are also responsible for the meticulous maintenance of the bar area, including inventory management, cleanliness, and presentation, ensuring the space is appealing and well-organized. A key duty includes verifying guest identification rigorously to confirm legal age compliance for alcohol purchase, reflecting the company's responsible service commitment.
Bartenders are required to maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in their work areas and must be vigilant in recognizing when guests have consumed excessive alcohol to responsibly manage service. This careful management is part of the hotel's broader commitment to safety and quality service. Bartenders also manage financial transactions efficiently, presenting checks, accepting payments, and providing correct change to guests.
Peter B's Bartenders play a vital role in creating a memorable dining and drinking experience through their service excellence. Candidates must have a friendly, energetic, and personable demeanor coupled with strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with both guests and coworkers. The role demands a service-oriented approach, authentic listening skills, and the ability to handle guest concerns effectively and courteously.
Candidates must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent and have certifications in California Food Handlers or ServSafe, along with state-approved alcohol management certification. A minimum of six months experience in food and beverage service is required, with hospitality experience preferred. Competency in basic computer and phone skills, along with problem-solving ability and comfort in a fast-paced environment, is essential.
Overall, this position provides a unique opportunity to be a part of a prestigious hospitality setting, contributing to the Portola Hotel and Spa’s mission of delivering superior guest experiences through passionate and professional service.
