- California Phlebotomy I certification
- High school diploma
- Preferably medical office experience
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to organize work and meet deadlines
- Valid California driver’s license, transportation, and auto insurance
- Accuracy in identification and transcription of information
- Ability to work variable 12-hour shifts

- Ability to work in variable 12-hour shifts
Job Duties
- Properly identify patients prior to drawing blood
- Collect blood efficiently using venipuncture and capillary puncture
- Accurately label and process specimens for analysis
- Input and retrieve data using laboratory and hospital information systems
- Maintain quality control and assist with quality improvement initiatives
- Operate laboratory communication systems
- Greet patients courteously and record demographics accurately
- Receive and process patient and test information
- Report problem punctures to supervisor
- Prepare departmental forms and maintain files
- Keep work area neat and organized
- Train and orient new employees
- Work at different sites as needed
- Oversee front office operations including coordinating Phlebotomist and Lab Aide schedules
- Resolve order conflicts and ensure timely processing of specimens
- Cancel unnecessary lab orders
- Perform point-of-care testing under supervision in non-acute facilities
- Escort patients and record vital signs
- Assist with patient flow and transportation as assigned
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to population served
- Perform other duties as assigned
