Job Requirements

  • successful completion of a Texas Department of Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or bachelor’s degree
  • two years experience as a paramedic
  • basic life support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Texas paramedic license issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • ability to satisfy and maintain all security and integrity requirements related to critical infrastructure as defined by Texas Business and Commerce Code

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • provide medical emergency response (code blue) as requested
  • provide primary medical emergency response in defined public spaces of the MD Anderson campus as part of Code Blue Team
  • provide support to Code Blue Teams in inpatient and outpatient areas
  • demonstrate technical skills related to emergency medical response including use of defibrillator, electrocardiograph, laryngoscope, endotracheal intubations, IV or IO placement, administration of oxygen and aerosol therapy
  • assist in transportation or movement of patients including lifting, carrying, and transporting to ambulance or medical facility
