The position of Per-diem Housekeeper/Laundry Aide at English Oaks Convalescent & Rehabilitation Hospital involves flexible hours, with shifts starting as early as 7:00 a.m. and extending as late as 11:30 p.m. This versatile role includes responsibilities in both housekeeping and laundry services, reflecting the hospital’s comprehensive approach to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. At $18.00 per hour, this per-diem role offers the chance to work in a collaborative setting where safety and hygiene are top priorities. The Housekeeper’s primary duty is to perform daily housekeeping activities in line with federal, state, and local regulations and according to the guidance provided by the Administrator or Director of Housekeeping. This ensures the facility is maintained at the highest standard for residents, staff, and visitors alike. The role is essential in supporting the hospital’s healthcare teams by keeping resident living and recreational areas clean, safe, and orderly, which is critical to infection control and overall well-being of residents.

Candidates will engage in a variety of tasks such as coordinating with nursing staff to perform routine cleaning and ensuring all areas are hazard-free, safe, and aesthetically maintained. Proper use and mixing of cleaning chemicals are required to protect both the health of residents and the integrity of the facility’s environment. The Housekeeper must be comfortable adhering to safety protocols, applying manufacturer instructions for cleaning substances, and conducting regular inspections of rooms and units for sanitation, order, and safety compliance. This role demands tact and professionalism in interactions with residents, families, visitors, and other healthcare personnel, emphasizing excellent interpersonal skills alongside operational diligence.   • must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
  • must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning

Job Duties

  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas
  • follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
  • keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies
  • follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning
  • refer to manufacturer’s instructions when necessary
