Job Requirements

  • Valid food handler's certificate
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification for cooks, preferred for dietary aides
  • Minimum 6 months experience in healthcare, long-term care, or high-volume commercial kitchen
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and meal schedules
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, and provide current immunizations including TB test
  • Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in hot, fast-paced environments
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and able to follow instructions
  • Food preparation, cooking, and food handling experience
  • Previous restaurant or kitchen experience
  • Culinary background
  • Strong knife skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP, safe food handling, cross-contamination prevention, and FIFO
  • Experience in menu planning
  • Knowledge of dietary department operations
  • Familiarity with catering and serving
  • Food safety certification is a plus
  • Experience as cook in long term care or assisted living facility is a plus
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA
  • Willingness to undergo background check, drug screening, and immunizations

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook quality food for meal service according to standardized recipes
  • Follow menus as provided
  • Schedule and prepare foods for special functions as planned
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
